ISOTHERM - Cycloid Elements

ISOTHERM cycloid elements do not give off any gas at all during casting and results in a solidification time extension factor of 2.35, because of this extension factor the liner dimensions of the insulated feeders are a third smaller than a feeder of the same modulus which is not insulated. The basic surface of the insulated feeder and the combustible surface is only half that of a normal feeder.

The ISOTHERM cycloid elements are very easily transported, they are tightly packed to minimize the danger of breakage.

Dispatch is on pallets with disposable frames, arranged according to type of cycloid element. The type numbers of the elements are stamped on the pallet so that there is no danger of confusion, especially in storage. ISOTHERM cycloid elements are supplied in the following eight types:

Instructions for use

For economic reasons it is necessary to base calculations on the solidification modulus as it contains the shape factor. This results in a more than 10% saving on some castings on plate-shaped castings in which the geometrical modulus is practically equal to the solidification modulus. When determining the riser, it must be considered that the solidification modulus of the riser is 8 - 11% higher than its geometrical modulus. In foundries where experienced technicians provide details of size and positions of feeders, these technicians should reduce their normal sand feeders using smaller insulated feeders outlined in the tables. In doing so however, attention must be paid to the shrinkage volume.

It is an advantage to have these feeders or feeder ring prepared by an assistant, so that the moulders receive the assembled feeder linings ready for use.

ISOTHERM cycloid elements are unaffected by changes in temperatures and can therefore be dried with the mould at as high a temperature as required. Consequently there is no subsequent fitting work on the finished moulds. The feeder lining sit reliably in the moulding sand and the liquid steel can neither lift nor flow round them. As the ISOTHERM compound does not produce any gases on contact with the liquid steel, there is no formation of smoke or any reaction with the steel. The ISOTHERM cycloid elements present an ideal solution to the acute question of environmental protection, as their application is extremely compatible with the environment.

ISOCHAINS

We produce 25, 30 and 50mm thick ISOCHAINS. They are used for riser modules of up to 17cm. The insulation is about 1.3.

ISOCHAINS are available in two different heights: 200 and 300mm.

ISOMENTE

Our Riser Insulation Program now includes ISOMENTE tiles following a takeover of the previous suppliers.

ISOMENTE tiles have a hard outer chasted filled with a very light insulating powder.

ISOMENTE tiles can be used for riser diameters in the range of 400 to 3000mm.

We produce ISOMENTE tiles with the following dimensions:
